@lilaweiss it will appear about 9 hours before your wake time, and give you a little alert every half hour (it's a system notifier, so it won't appear on all older versions of the Mac OS)

Uncheck "fast transitions" from Options, in the f.lux menu to the left of your system clock.

Which operating system are you seeing the problem on, and which video card does your machine have? This should be better in 10.10 for most video cards, they fixed a lot of bugs. And can you tell me what time of day the jumping happens - is it only when f.lux is transitioning?

You can use "working late" setting - it will turn sunset to 6500K and keep your nightly wind-down time.

I have the same problem. It looks like the flux profile is temporarily disabled. I have a dual GPU macbook pro, running Mavericks.

gfx.io shows that the GPU is in discrete mode all the time, while the flashing does occur. So I don't think the problem is caused by switching GPU's.

Automatic screen brightness adjustment is turned off. And thus the flashing also occurs when brightness is constant.

How could this be fixed? I'd love to use flux, but the flashing makes it unusable.

Are you on a machine with dual GPUs maybe? There's no content that can do it, officially, but there are ways the GPU can get confused.

@lorna: thanks for your response. I have for an app which is not open when this behavior happens.

@timpster: thanks, but the monitor isn't very consistent in rendering text well in different apps and I have to often tinker the settings to get back to sharp text rendering.

As to your other question, I have Intel Iris 1536 MB on my Late 2013 Macbook pro with 2.4 Ghz i5 and my colleague has a Macbook Air, 1.7 Ghz i7, Intel HDGraphics 500.

I think reboot fixed it, or probably some app was causing this.

You can also disable bedtime mode by pulling it all the way to the right (or choosing "classic f.lux" in the menu).

Above 3400K, we just turn off the mode entirely.
