Sometimes, I want to see a photo when browsing at night at normal balance, but I don't want to have to restart the app to get that. Could a toggleable disable be added?

Yes this is in all versions. Check for the Disable menu (which is "for an hour" but you can of course toggle it back earlier).

On Windows you can use alt-end too.
