      I have same(?) problem.

      Sleep Mac with f.lux's "OS X dark theme at sunset" after sunset. (without dark theme setting of System Preferences.) Wake-up Mac after next sunrise. Finder's menu bar is still in dark theme. (but other full-screen app's menu bar aren't in dark theme, and icons at right side in Finder's menu bar [clock, spotlight, etc.] aren't in dark theme too.)

      Hmm - have you tried rebooting? You could also force quit the app under Activity Monitor and try restarting it.

      Why the name F.lux? Thanks

      Thank you both for your swift reply.
      Lorna, I was hoping that someone from the team would get back to me, so thank you.

      I'am a student, currently running a self written brief, out of Graphics studio in the UK.
      I would be incredibly grateful if we could speak more, in order to rack your brains about everything F.lux? (Starting up, history, future prospects, etc.)

      If you have a spare moment, please drop me a line at parkerjch@live.co.uk

      Thank you

      @lorna , I didn't think she wanted to permanently disable f.lux's notifications, but just temporarily while she's eg. watching a movie. That's exactly the kind of thing "Do Not Disturb" is meant for. It has the advantage that all Mac notifications are silenced, not only f.lux's, and also that it will automatically re-enable at the end of the day, in case you forget to turn it back on.

      @scapegoat , I meant the Mac's Notification Center, not the f.lux menu or preferences. Do you know how to open your Notification Center? If not, look at the link I posted above. The Do Not Disturb switch is above today's date, so actually you have to scroll up to see it.

      For the time being, I recommend changing your Location in f.lux to a place where the sunset has occurred already.

      @herf
      Thank you very much for the clarification! Now I understand I bit better what's going on.
      I'll be waiting for a zero polling version in the future, thanks. :)

      Perhaps you have Banners set as your alert? That could potentially cause them not to display.

      Also if you dislike the feature, f.lux has an "Options" menu to turn it off in one click.

      You don't need to use Location Services. Don't click the white button with the little arrow in it. Just enter "perth australia" into the box, and press Search. That will manually set your location.
