I cannot close flux

it is in the application folder.
i want to uninstall it and reinstall it.
it says it is open but it will not open.
there is nothing in force quit.i deleted everything flux in finder to see if i could then move to trash or uninstall.
now the icon in the application folder is the circle with the line thru it and i still cannot trash it.
it worked fine when i installed it. but then it did not. so that is why i wanted to uninstall or trash it and reinstall it.
what can i do.

Have you quit the app from the f.lux settings menu to the left of your system clock? Start there (see the top picture at https://justgetflux.com/news/pages/macquickstart/)
