So i finally bought the smart lights and can answer my own question:
No, the Alt+PgDn & Alt+PgUp shortcuts don't adjust the brightness.

Yes, please! I agree with this. I use Excel a lot (main reason I need f.lux) and alt+PgUp is the shortcut to scroll across spreadsheets.

So I have to click in f.lux, click Options and Smart Lighting, check the Hotkeys to On, adjust the brightness, then check Hotkeys to off. It's too many clicks!

Either the option of changing a Hotkey or a simple brightness slider would be brilliant. Thank you!

@Labargoth I have the same issue, as for now the only solution is to close f.lux

Usually the brightness keys should control the backlight and not interfere, but it sounds like they are doing something else.

You can try right-clicking on the desktop and choose "Intel Graphics Settings". Look in Power and see if any of the settings there make a difference. (Personally I always turn off dpst because I don't like how it looks).

There is also a slightly newer driver for the Intel 620, not sure if that would help or not:

Whoa. Nice find!! This is definitely better than ScreenBright. No, it's not just better, it destroys it.

I use this LED screen as my extended monitor and I have flux installed. sometimes when I turn off flux to edit a photo with photoshop, even though the color I've set is white, when I have saved the image, it doesn't come out fully white in the screen. Does it have something to do with flux or the settings of the screen?

@TwoCables O.K. that's cool. I knew you know hardware but wasn't sure where you are on the software side. Cool, now I know you're very good at both.

Oh. I mistakenly assumed you had figured that out by now. Sorry about that.

@patrykd Oh, try "Disable until Sunrise". That should do it! Also I want you to seriously give lowering the color temperature a try. Change Daytime from 6500K to 6000K. Put night time on 5200K. Make sure the transition speed is set to slow, 60 m[inutes]. Also if the color of your cursor being a whiter color is screwing up the experience there are a couple ways to solve this.

Mouse trails. You can either set this to the lowest setting in the control panel, or you can get really fancy and go into the registry and change it to -1 or 99. Let me know which way you'd like.

If you don't want to do either of those, you can turn on the Windows magnifier, and set it to 100% which will keep the screen the same size.

I think we should look into the effects on vision with screens 2" away from our face. I just don't like the idea.

said in Problem with brightness settings:

Hello, I have a problem while using f.lux. When I turn it on, it changes chromatic temperature to warmer, that is okay. After that I put my notebook to hibernation, and when I wake it again, usually after sunrise, I have problems with brightness control. It expresses in these ways: OSD of brightness control is still lightning; OSD doesn't show at all; brightness isn't adjustable; software providing OSD informations crashes. Sometimes works this or that, sometimes nothing goes wrong, sometimes goes everything wrong. So when I take it to hibernation or even sleep (but with sleep there isn't problem mostly), and then wake it up, the problem arises at about 50% chance. As I said, sometimes just OSD software crashes but everything else works (brightness control). Now, for example, nor OSD nor brightness control works. However, function of other special Fn keys and their OSD works well.
So I thought about easy solution, disabling the f.lux to override and handle system controls of monitor chromatic temperature and just use it as it was before the changes was done to my registry. I mean that when I install f.lux freshly, it won't make the screen much warmer, but after clicking on a button to improve f.lux or something like that, other functions will appear. And I want to turn it back, because I think there was no problem before this change. Unfortunately I forgot where to change it, although I read of that once. Or, is there any other solution?
P.S. My notebook is IBM Lenovo T60, with integrated Intel 945 GM Graphics Controller, and software from Lenovo. Graphics driver should be up to date, a few days back I downloaded it from Intel.
Also please excuse my bad english, it is not my native language.
      Please help me.

      Hi
