@orgaanja Just to be clear--are you clicking the icon in the menu bar, because I don't think you should be double clicking, nor should you have an option "open" when you right click--this reads like you're trying to open a setup file, or it maybe just the program in "Applications" folder. From my VERY limited experience, I had issues when I did not "Move [f.lux] to Applications folder" when asked.

If this is the case, open Activity Monitor and close the f.lux process, and try starting it again.

If this isn't working, close it if it's open, and search "finder" for "f.lux" or 'flux' and delete anything associated with it.

Then reinstall, and this time (assuming you have not) move it to applications when the message comes up. If you've already done this, then reinstalling should fix these issues either way.

Yes it has recently (as of 10.12) started appearing on older Intel devices as well. The Chrome fix should work for you.

I believe Apple has fixed it within Safari and so they closed my most recent bug, but it occurs even in the basic Quicktime player, so it is a core problem in the system.

Also we have a "disable by app" feature in this version, so you can do this by hand pretty quickly. Just choose the "disable" menu and click "for current app" and f.lux will then always be disabled when that app is in the foreground.

We haven't preset a list, because people may have different preferences.

It sounds like f.lux is crashing?

Can you look in Console for any f.lux crashes?

This should be the build you get from our main page, but it might not work on some browser configurations...?

here the picture links since embedding didn't work:

Also I haven't noticed the problem when playing a video file with VLC or similar -- just from streaming.

@Schnitte No, that's normal behavior for f.lux--it will only affect an active program (or in this case, to not affect it). Maybe this will be addressed in a future version.

Apple-support had no idea of this issue yesterday when I talked to them both in store (showing on mb12-demo computers) and via chat support. Im aiming for a mbp or a better brand next time :computer:

There were some automatic brightness bugs in Yosemite - you may have to reboot, or disable automatic brightness.

F.lux is not the problem, it's the display. You can easily have like 10 different displays in front of you (be it separate monitors or displays on tablets and laptops), and you can have 10 different results for color accuracy. Just because f.lux says it's at a certain color temperature, it doesn't mean that you're seeing exactly that color temperature. What you actually get is entire dependent on the display being used.

So, the only way to fix that is by making adjustments to the display's settings until you are satisfied with it. There's nothing you can do in f.lux, unless you wish to change the color temperature to compensate for the display's difference in color accuracy.

I would like to second this one but for a slightly different reason. Living in Alaska, during the winter the sun starts setting at around 4PM which isn't always optimal.
