Multiple monitors and f.lux: How to disable on a specific display?

@cowboyzed right now it is applied for all the displays equally. We have a per-monitor disable on Windows, which we will look at adding to macOS too.

Edit: it looks like Mac was hiding icon overflow on my top bar on smaller screens. When I connected my computer to an external monitor with a bigger screen, the icon appeared! There may be a way to fix this on the mac side (closing programs in the top bar that aren't flux should be a good start for users who don't have access to a bigger screen), but just wanted to share in case this is helpful to people!

      Hi!

This is exactly what I am looking for too. Making everything monochrome red is great. But why does it inverts everything at the same time? That should be a separate thing. All my icons look odd, all shadows are wrong, photos are useless, faces cannot be recognised, basically everything looks bad. So instinctively I've tried to use MacOS built in inversion feature to "fix" it, but unfortunately macOS inverts the image after it is tinted red by f.lux, so in inversion mode it becomes cyan. (My brain froze when I switched. I didn't expect the amount of blue light into my face.)

I'd assume it could be very hard or almost impossible to make f.lux filters come after OS level filters, so it'll never play nicely with macOS built in inversion feature I think.

But that should not mean that the red filter should only be available with inverted luminance. Can we gat a mode / option to use red filter without flipping dark and light parts of the screen please?

I had the "glowing cursor" issue on a (Samsung widescreen) external monitor in Mac OS X. The solution turned out to be turning off the "High Dynamic Range" setting for the external monitor (after which the picture in general seemed better too).

@jeffb the main thing to check is that the "correct" color profile is used for the mac monitor (it should say "Color LCD" the System Preferences > Displays > color)

Also, we did make an update a few years ago to support DCI-P3 displays (like the new Macbooks), so make sure your f.lux build is up to date also.

@herf I gave that a shot and its still missing. Yep, its def. running. It shows in the activity monitor and the color shift still works. Actually, the reason I posted last night is because I was editing photos and I wanted to make sure I got the color correction right so I wanted to turn it off but couldn't until I finally restarted the computer.

@TeaTeacher you're saying disable by app is not working in Sonoma? It does seem to be working in Sonoma 14.4 here - which version are you using?

@gtfhercules f.lux functions as a "VCGT" loader, so any part of the profile in this header will be loaded and preserved. If this is not working, could you please send it to email - support at justgetflux.com?

@influxensa first, yes it should do nothing!

I'll be slightly more correct than our FAQ:

Monitors use a chromaticity called "D65" which has a tiny bit more green in it than 6500K does and is also around 6504K, and basically every display in the world is calibrated to show this color as white. When you ask f.lux to use 6500K it really uses D65....but that's why it does "nothing".

Hi everyone - yes it is still one click to turn it off. However, without it, people do not set their wake time, and so f.lux cannot customize lighting based on this information. These two features work together, and I hope it isn't too hard to turn off the notifications if they aren't helpful - but we will leave it on for this reason.

@scraja4u which version of f.lux, and which version of Sonoma? Also how is the second screen connected? We likely do not support USB connected monitors.
