f.lux has three times of day, and you can adjust the setting for each one separately.

Click each tab one at a time and it the way you like, or start with a preset (from the pulldown menu).

During the day, in between sunrise and sunset, change the color temperature to something that feels good. I expect you to prefer color temperatures that are no higher than maybe 3000 to 3500K. The lower the number, the less blue light there is.

Do the same during the night.

      ?

OK I figured it out. The icon for f.lux is tiny and I couldn't figure out what you meant by "to the left of your system clock" but I eventually found it and adjusted the color.

      Whew!

@lights_out Just checking something: Do you have Apple's Night Shift feature enabled? Night Shift is Apple's clone of F.lux, only with fewer features and poorer color shifts IMHO. If you have both F.lux and Night Shift enabled at the same time, you'll get strange color shifts.

Since I like F.lux much better (!), I disabled Night Shift.

      hello,
i was able to replicate this on three one-of-a-kind machines.

if you have iGPU (onboard Intel Video) enabled in the bios and drivers mounted, and you have an add-on video card (nvidia) established and number one, this blend will motive massive flickering.

In home windows, you need to force connect a non-existing "display" to the intel onboard video. This lets in for Intel short Sync era to paintings.

Why could you need the above setup? due to the fact, the above setup lets in you to take gain of Intel quick Sync to render/encode hardware improved video.

Thanks for the report - is f.lux not working at all on 10.7? Or the UI is not appearing?

We are definitely trying to build for 10.7, but the oldest test machine we have is 10.8. (Also our updater, Sparkle, says it supports 10.7 too.)

We can downgrade you also, but I would love to fix what's going on.

What version are you running? There is a way to do this on all the current versions. If you are on Mac, make sure you have "Expand Daytime Settings" option checked, then set your daytime color. You will need to change the other colors.

We do not recommend sunset mode for use before bed as it still lets a lot of light through. If that's the mode most comfortable to you and you are concerned about light that can affect sleep, dimming your screen as far as you can will help a lot. See https://fluxometer.com/rainbow for some interactive charts.

I found an INEXPENSIVE solution: use a min-DisplayPort -> DisplayPort cable. BOTH external displays are controlled by F.lux.

      More details:
I discarded the USB to a DisplayLink to VGA cable, and replaced it with a mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable. You can find cheaper cables elsewhere. The Thunderbolt port on a Mac is a Mini DisplayPort.
