I also experienced some problem with this f.lux current version (v4.42). My problem was: explorer.exe could not start at computer boot up. To solve my problem, I disabled f.lux automatic boot, from msconfig. So, now I manually start f.lux to use it.

@herf More like, I have my art program I need to do color sensitive work on open on one monitor, whilst I have unrelated stuff open on my other 2 screens (usually chat programs/mail or non color sensitive references). Using the "disable when using [program]" feature disables f.lux on all 3 monitors when the program is active.

I would personally prefer it to only be disabled on the monitor I have said program open on. Or at least have an option like that, if that's at all possible. Because having all 3 monitors have flux disabled kind of hurts my eyes when I work late at night (which I do a lot, to be honest)

In my case, I already have dark themes on every program I own that allows me to do that, and flux combined with that is actually really nice and easy on the eyes.

Sorry for replying to my own post, but I need to explain better about the "cam option":

(1) "f.lux makes your computer screen look like the room you're in, all the time."
Not all the time and not by itself. The only way to do this is through the webcam of the computer. Example: you are in your room and the light stop working, and the room turns completely dark.
(2) "Tell f.lux what kind of lighting you have, and where you live. Then forget about it. f.lux will do the rest, automatically." Not automatically. The only way to do this is through the webcam again. Example: it's suntime wit sunlight and suddenly an ugly storm makes dark the sky.

Probably the easiest way to solve partially both issues is with the hotkeys to change brightness, but obviously it needs the hand of the user to work. Thanks again. :)

I haven't disabled it from the flux app, if that is what you're asking. As I mentioned, it works well when the cursor is hovering above a link. When it is not above a link, then it instantly becomes brighter and harsher - however, not as bright as when it is turned completely off. This happens whether or not I am in fullscreen mode, but if the window is not fullscreen, it is only the Chrome window that has this problem - the rest of the screen stays nicely reddish. I also just noticed that the problem doesn't seem to happen in tablet mode. When it is in tablet mode (ie rotated vertically), f.lux seems to work fine and there is no flickering at all, with Chrome or anything else.

EDIT: The chrome window also seems to flicker when I disconnect the surface type cover.

Is it going into the hidden icons area? They are doing things a little differently with their icon and perhaps it's slow to update the location of the icon when it moves to the area for hidden icons. So perhaps its disappearance can only show now if the mouse cursor touches where it once was.

Yes, I have been working on this for three years (including adjusting the backlight), and pulled it out at the last minute because it wasn't working quite right.

It works a lot better with light sensors built into a screen....but so few PCs have them still that we may have to do it!

I have a GTX 780 and changing driver versions makes no difference, but I prefer using 376.33 right now.

the disable for fullscreen works for me in BF1, it disables flux when I run it, but I don't see message saying it does as I do in some full screen app, like fullscreen you-tube vids.

I am on 4.35beta
