@Delaney said in Today I can no longer control the brightness with control/alt+mouse scroll wheel:

@TwoCables Oh, okay version 4 for windows. Thanks. And that's interesting. I wonder why I could and now I can't. I had to click on the desktop screen to do so but I still found it easier. I'm going to miss it. Oh, and the other weird thing was I couldn't adjust my screen size on a browser with alt/scroll this morning (which I normally can) until I uninstalled f.lux. Then it worked again. This all happened right after I saw the pop up for the f.lux update but hadn't even done anything yet. Thank you though.

You have some sort of program installed that lets you do that. This isn't a feature of f.lux.

Same problem. Gets removed from task manager startup list.

Have you tried putting the flux shortcut on the "startup" folder manually?

Our installer sets things up to run with /noshow to prevent this. Do you have any software that may have removed the flag?

      Reinstalling may help if so.

Can you post f.lux options > driver info? Will let us see the versions and other things.

Also please post what it says at https://justgetflux.com/timesync.html

svchost is a wrapper for a service. f.lux doesn't use any services. The one you mention is responsible for handling network connections like Windows Update (which is now EOL'd for Windows 7).

Have you obtained the software from our website or a third party? I would try to see what it's connecting to, or run an anti-virus check.

@bikelike said in yellowish rather than redish:

Thanks for the answer. Just you don't quite understand what I mean.

When I choose soft white in f.lux, I get a nice warm tone which is mainly a shift towards yellow. No magenta seems to be added. However, this tone is not available in the color temperature range of f.lux. That is because also magenta is added. Which is similar to the Windows 10 Night Light. Do you understand what I mean now?

Personally I prefer the yellow shift over the reddish shift. That is why I like Mac better in that respect.

Ideally there would be a feature within f.lux where both temperature AND tint (as it is called in Lightroom) can be set. Please take that as a warm feature request :-)

Soft White is approximately 4500-4700K. This is still far too 'alerting' and melatonin-suppressing and circadian-rhythm-disrupting.

What precisely are you using f.lux for? Comfort? Or for avoiding melatonin suppression? If for comfort, Night Shift is ok. If for avoiding melatonin suppression, Night Shift isn't good. It doesn't matter that it looks better. Looks aren't important when you're trying to avoid melatonin suppression.

@TheophilusThistle said in It's Too Dark!:

I tried a search, surprised I couldn't find any posts about f.lux being too dark. I have tried tweaking the settings but I don't like how dark f.lux makes my screen, and the computer's brightness option can't make it any lighter.

How do I brighten the lighting using f.lux?

Do you mean that you don’t like how warm the color temperature gets?

@TwoCables Turns out it was a broken display driver and reinstalling the driver fixed it. Thanks!

Whoa! I didn't see that coming. :) I'm happy you figured it out. This is usually caused by not expanding the color range. Nice work!

Does anyone have a solution to this problem? Using Windows 10's Night Light is a workaround. But I would prefer to use flux, because flux is better than Windows 10's Night Light.

Inverting color selection with windows magnifier doesn't work anymore

While inverting color selection the problem can be caused by magnifier and it can stop working. To make the magnifier work you just simply need to follow these 2 steps:
      • Press Windows and + key to open magnifier tool
      • Now, press CTRL + ALT + I key all together
      • This will invert all the colors on the screen and magnifier will work properly.
Know more about inverted colors in Windows and make your system looks better than before.
