      Hi, thanks for this info.
I followed the instructions and ended up with my USB displaylink monitor no longer displaying f.lux colours at all! I had some idea that maybe the displaylink beta drivers hadn't installed properly since the driver version was displaying as 8.0x not 8.2 so I uninstalled the drivers and then tried again. Next I kept getting a message to say the driver was already up to date (which I had earlier when I tried to install the drivers and at that time I believed it, but I think it might have been just not installing properly and telling me fibs). Tried uninstalling the displaylink core (which was from 2016 and saying it was version 6) in case this was disallowing the new driver installs, and then I had to restart, but I ended up having a windows update install at the same time as this reboot. As far as I can tell right now the USB monitor is running on Microsoft generic drivers and this seems to be working fine with f.lux so for right now I'm going to leave well enough alone. Looks like I'm on windows 1709 now so maybe this has changed something.

      Thanks for helping me out!

Just to confirm, I just finally found the graphics driver and it is updated. It's Intel HD Graphics 3000. Windows 7 64-bit, Thinkpad x220. The f.lux icon on the bottom left indicates that the program is on, but the color shift is not happening (to make sure my eyes hadn't adjusted, I clicked "disable for one hour" and the color stays the same) on my laptop - but it's fine and working on my second display.
      Thanks.

@poor-man Glad to hear you are back online. This f.lux update does ask you to reboot (so it can apply stronger color settings).

    • S

When f.lux disables, I have to go into Color Management and reload my calibration.

@Davoun-Stojka Can you post which version of f.lux you have running and which version of Windows?

F.lux update allowed virus to invade PC? Or was update from a hacker?

If you downloaded f.lux from the server at https://justgetflux.com there is no virus or hacked version there and your virus came from another place. We do not ship a version of f.lux that does anything like this.

@GUNEROO7 said in How do I disable flux on startup?:

@TwoCables I could have sworn there was an option but now I'm guessing I just did this a while ago and forgot, thank you very much for your help.

      You're welcome.

I can confirm that v3 didn't have such an option because I had to use this trick for v3 too.

sorry - this is in our FAQ:

If you use a Spyder, the software profile loader may cause f.lux to flash periodically. You can disable the Spyder software on startup, and use f.lux instead to load the profile. Also, when you're calibrating a display, you'll want to do the opposite and quit f.lux before you do.

      Ouch!

If you could do me a favor, the v4 beta (only a few changes ahead) will print out some extra information that we can use to make sure this doesn't happen for anyone else!

      https://justgetflux.com/flux-setup4.exe

And then in the Options click "Driver Info"

It won't turn the option back on just will print the reason we thought it should be. :)

f.lux does not have any permanent effects once it's uninstalled.

There is one thing about updating your Intel driver. Intel drivers frequently add a power-saving feature called "DPST" that causes a visible effect. I always turn it off through the "HD Graphics control panel". If you have that control panel, look in "power" and "battery" and see if you can turn off "Display Power Saving Technology".

If that's not it and you think it's related to f.lux, please send a video to support at justgetflux.com

Classic f.lux sets your wake time to sunrise so the graph draws in the right place.
This is a very special preset and only "Classic f.lux" will do this.

      I

I completely uninstalled f.lux 4.55, waited a few days, decided to try again, downloaded the current version (4.55) and installed it again.

      Here are my machine specs:
f.lux 4.55 setting was "reduce eyestrain"
      ASUS laptop G751JY.202, 10-Sep-14
      processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4710HQ CPU @ 2.50GHz 2.49GHZ
      RAM: 24.0GB
      64-bit Windows 10 Home version 1709, OS build 16299.125, x64-based processor
video card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980M, driver version 23.21.13.8859

And this is what I get when I close out of a virtual world program:
      https://gyazo.com/b64612448ebb7b0eb8919167c88841dd

It's like that for a minute or so, then goes back to normal, and colour temperature resets to f.lux again.

Seems it only happens with this one program, but it bugs the hell out of me. Any help?

The "waking up" alerts can be turned off in the Options menu.

The beta version also shows three sliders instead of preview when you click the graph, but we still recommend most people just use the single slider to adjust the current setting:
