@becritical f.lux uses a more reliable method for changing colors after you do that, yep.

First, click on the text that says "Location" and it will show a menu.
Then, you can type in the name of a place, or if you're in the USA, type in your zipcode.

@TwoCables said in guys pls make custom keyboard shortcuts/ bring bck "turn off for 1h" in quick access tickbox:

I'm sorry, but are you serious? It's "miles and miles"? It's just a simple process of opening the f.lux menu, hovering over "Disable", and then choosing "For an hour". What's so hard about that?

Oh noes, it's 1 more mouse click than before! Oh man, you might strain yourself.

You also have to realize that there are many more options for disabling f.lux now, so it only makes sense to have the 'for an hour' option in the menu along with all the new options for disabling f.lux. What sense would it make to have it be somewhere else? It's called "categorizing".

Additionally, there is an added keyboard shortcut that avoids miles of steps and even clicks of any kind: "[Alt]+[End]"

Oh, found the problem: for some reason the main window wouldn't open for me, I had to restart flux and then it appeared.

      Thanks anyway! :)

The window will open if you double-click the icon in the Notification Area, or if you right-click it and choose "f.lux color and schedule".

Yeah, tried both of those but the window wouldn't show up even after the icon appeared blinking on the taskbar. It must've been a glitch, I guess. As said, a restart fixed the issue. In hindsight, it's kind of embarrassing that it didn't occur to me to restart the app before posting here.

Anyway, thanks again for the replies, much appreciated.

@herf Thank you for continuing to incorporate increasingly complex features. They are fun and the scientific basis is fascinating!

I have a suggestion for improving the feature of clicking the graph once to get the 3-slider mode.

All you have to do is go into the f.lux options and change the setting under "How quickly should transitions happen?" There are 3 options:

"Slow: Natural Timing" "Medium: Adapt your eyes" "Very Fast: Gaming"

      Hi, thanks for this info.
I followed the instructions and ended up with my USB displaylink monitor no longer displaying f.lux colours at all! I had some idea that maybe the displaylink beta drivers hadn't installed properly since the driver version was displaying as 8.0x not 8.2 so I uninstalled the drivers and then tried again. Next I kept getting a message to say the driver was already up to date (which I had earlier when I tried to install the drivers and at that time I believed it, but I think it might have been just not installing properly and telling me fibs). Tried uninstalling the displaylink core (which was from 2016 and saying it was version 6) in case this was disallowing the new driver installs, and then I had to restart, but I ended up having a windows update install at the same time as this reboot. As far as I can tell right now the USB monitor is running on Microsoft generic drivers and this seems to be working fine with f.lux so for right now I'm going to leave well enough alone. Looks like I'm on windows 1709 now so maybe this has changed something.

      Thanks for helping me out!

Just to confirm, I just finally found the graphics driver and it is updated. It's Intel HD Graphics 3000. Windows 7 64-bit, Thinkpad x220. The f.lux icon on the bottom left indicates that the program is on, but the color shift is not happening (to make sure my eyes hadn't adjusted, I clicked "disable for one hour" and the color stays the same) on my laptop - but it's fine and working on my second display.
      Thanks.

@poor-man Glad to hear you are back online. This f.lux update does ask you to reboot (so it can apply stronger color settings).
