Outgoing network connections

I recently began using Little Snitch that tells me about apps attempting to make outgoing network connections.
I was surprised to see that a notification about f.lux attempting to do so today, and I would very much like to know why/what is i.flux connecting for and what kind of information is sent out...?
The connection was attempted to 216.176.200.22 port 443 via https, at that time f.lux was running in the background and non of its windows were open.

We use Sparkle to check for updates once a day.
That IP is an SSL connection to justgetflux.com
