@sweatylaborer thanks we are tracking this and have reported it to Apple - here it seems to affect internal displays (MBP) but not an external one. Can you post your system model?

Might be helpful if you can send a report to Apple with Feedback Assistant also - thanks!

        @herf

Sure, I have a 16" MacBook Pro M4 Max. I doubt it's relevant as I believe the special anti-glare screen that is offered is hardware rather than software (could be wrong on that), but I do not have that type of screen, just the normal one.

I also did just update to the most recent beta build, (Title: macOS Tahoe Beta, Version: 26.0, Size: 17005410KiB, Build: 25A5295e, Deferred: NO) and unfortunately still no functionality.

I am using Version 42.2, and checking for updates, the app has told me that I am on the latest version.

Please let me know if the information I have provided is insufficient, or if you would like me to test out any new versions of Flux that may be in the works to get around this issue. Apple's Night Shift simply does not match up to the functionality that Flux has been providing me for over a decade, so I am very eager to see its functionality restored.

I will also submit a report to Apple with their Feedback Assistant as suggested.

        Thanks!

@sweatylaborer this has been reported to Apple for several weeks.
We also know it is related to "automatic brightness" on some displays, perhaps only the MacBook Pro models. So f.lux works on our external displays, or with automatic brightness turned off.

Same with the MacBook Pro M2 Max 16-inch. As the OP reported, I'm currently on Beta 3, and there's still no luck even after reinstalling.

@izyilq yes the only fix for now is to disable 'automatic brightness' in the displays control panel (which is kind of a bad fix)

thanks all for the patience - beta 5 fixes the issue and f.lux works with automatic brightness again

@herf Where can I find the download link for beta versions? The version that downloads from the main page is from several years ago. Thanks for the hard work to fix the issues!

@macuser usually those are announced here as a direct link. We did not roll out any of our Tahoe fixes as Apple fixed the bugs before Tahoe went live.

Are you having issues with a current release?

@herf Hi. I have the same problems on Mac OS Tahoe 26.3.1 MacBook M5 Pro. Automatic Brightness is off. True Tone also off. Flux works on my LG UltraFine 5K but not on my MacBook. :-( Any fix here soon? I love flux so much and don't want to miss it.

We are tracking this bug on m5 pro and max (with built-in displays) - you can read more here:

                        https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/819331

We hope there will be a fix in upcoming macOS builds.

We believe that all M4-era MBPs and Neo are working. It is the "pro" M5s with a retina XDR that are not.
