Flux not opening at all

I see someone posted this issue back in Feb 24 but it had no responses. I'm going to try again!
Everything is fine until I click on the app once it's been downloaded and unzipped. Nothing happens.
I try it a second time and it says it's already running. It shows as running in Activity Monitor, but the interface does not pop up to allow me to use it and adjust settings.
I'm on a macbook air silicone M1.
Years ago someone suggested downloading in Safari. Tried that, no dice. Tried uninstalling, restarting, reinstalling. No dice.
Any bright ideas?
