10.10.5 Yosemite Mac 2010 forces screen sleep

After a myriad of efforts and an embarrassing long amount of time, disabling f.lux was the only f.ing (see what I did there? har har I'll bet everyone else has too) thing to solve the issue. Even resetting pram only worked once.
But I'd like it back – is there a known fix for this issue? I'll try re-downloading and installing. Fingers crossed this isn't from a connector burn out on the back end from running f.lux.
