MacOS colours messed up after putting to sleep with virtualbox machines left on monitoring

I put my mac screen down with a few virtual machines and monitoring on. When I close Flux the colours go back to normal. I'm now forced to use the native OSX warm colours configuration, but would prefer to keep using flux, I like the options it offers. Any way I can fix it?
I tried reinstalling and overriding the app and it didn't work.
Do I need to manually clean up and uninstall? possibly some colour config somewhere that needs to be reset?

tried uninstalling manually and it still behaves in this way. any advice or things to try would be appreciated.
