This wasn't a problem on my old MBP (I think it was late 2011), but I'm experiencing problem for a month now since I installed it on MacBook Air (early 2015).

              Fun fact/temporary fix :

              • If you pinch to zoom on the fullscreen video, the artifacts are gone. I now watch all my videos slightly zoomed in. (also works with the cmd+"scroll" zoom if enabled in preferences/accessibility, which is a system-wide zoom)
              • If you move your mouse to the top of the screen in order for the status bar to show up, the problem disappears as well as long as the status bar is displayed.

Basically, as soon as your mac has something more to do than just displaying a fullscreen video, it all works fine.

I've had this problem since I've started using f.lux a year or two ago and I know that f.lux can't do anything to solve it, this is just some sort of useful hack for when it really isn't bearable. (I'm currently using a 2015 13' macbook pro retina with Intel Iris Graphics 6100 1536 Mo)

This fixes it for Safari but is it ok to use despite its permissions?

Hi, I'm own the newest Mac book Pro 13 inch with Touchbar and I'm running 10.12.3 and the latest version of flux.
I seem to have the same problem of color distortions when streaming from sites like youtube or Netflix.
My problem also occurs when I'm not in full screen. It occurs both in Safari and Chrome!
This is what it looks like. So is it flux's fault or a problem with apple?

Also I haven't noticed the problem when playing a video file with VLC or similar -- just from streaming.

@bliblibli don't worry. Apple is about to release there own solution to blue light in the next point release of macOS. We will not have to deal with this much longer.

@bliblibli This is an Apple bug. We have asked them to fix it many times. They have fixed it for Safari in the latest OS version only.

As the other user states they will be releasing a copy of our older work (without permission, credit, or compensation, since that question comes up often), however I'm not so sure you "won't have to deal with it much longer" since it's not really strong enough to be much help on most screens. They apparently copied our settings back before we knew as much as we do now....

@lorna thanks for the reply. How is it an apple bug? Problem occurs when I use flux.

I'm running the latest os (that is not beta) and the distortion problem still occurs in safari!

That sucks if the copied your work :(

Well even if Apples solution is not going to be great I find Flux unusable on a Mac. So it will be better than Flux for me. I've been using the iOS equivalent and it's decent enough.

Update 3/2017: These bugs seem to be getting fixed by Apple. However, for those who do not have the latest OS or are still having trouble, we have added a "disable for fullscreen apps" toggle to f.lux. (You might want this for other reasons too.)

                                    The new build is here:

OK, to be specific: our dev machines (running 10.12.3 and 10.12.4) exhibited this bug before, but do not right now. Separately, Apple reported to us that they fixed a bug in Safari. So I'm optimistic that more machines will see a fix soon.

I'm not happy that it has taken almost two years for them to address a bug like this - it is incredibly frustrating. But it is definitely not something we can fix on our side (other than this workaround which disables f.lux entirely). It is present even with a simple color profile installed, without f.lux running at all.

@herf Cool. So what you're saying is that current beta versions of MacOS are not showing this glitch. Is it working in Chrome as well? This is good news!

@dogduty @lorna's Macbook Pro Retina (locked to "intel" mode) was showing artifacts before, but it is OK now (in Chrome too). I suspect this is deep in an Intel driver somewhere, so it's really a matter of which actual driver is shipping for each Mac/OS combination.
