      I'd like to know if this is safe, or if I should use a more traditional ceiling light instead. Basically, it's my cheap version of a lightbox, as autumn is here and there is less light later in the day. I figured I'd give this a try.

        @Tungsten_smooth I would think it's not the best idea, do you have a diffuser?

          @lorna Not much diffusion, it is a mostly frosted neodymium glass, and it's in a domed white lamp, so it reflects off that as well. It's not a clear bulb, but I think ~1200 lumens may be just a bit over the top.
