It's what a clock would say if it were based on the sun.

We left it in from the beta. We are intending to make it have a more prominent role, but more to come here.

        Here's from the Readme:

        Solar Time?

Solar Time is the time a clock would say if it were based on the sun. If our clocks worked like this, noon would happen when the sun was directly overhead.

We now show Solar Time in f.lux interface, because we’re think it’s important.

If your solar time is after the current clock time, it’s likely that you live in a place that’s easy for night owls to be (because they can wake up late). And if you’re in a place where the solar time is much earlier than what your clock says, it’s easier for early birds, because they can go to bed early.

Hey it's a test, we left it in from the beta. We are intending to make it have a more prominent role, but we pulled it over from the beta, but there is more to come here.

          Solar Time?

We added “Solar time” to the preferences, because we’re think it’s important.

If your solar time is after the current clock time, it’s likely that you live in a place that’s easy for night owls to be (because they can wake up late). And if you’re in a place where the solar time is much earlier than what your clock says, it’s easier for early birds, because they can go to bed early.

Thank you I read that before posting. I Googled what it is but I got to wondering if this is something different. You explained it perfectly by saying it's what a clock would say if it were based on the sun. Thank you! :)

@TwoCables Hello. My solar time is 1 hour before my clock time. It is 9 pm on the clock, but 8 pm solar time. f.lux is currently using the "warm at sunset" color due to the 8 pm solar time, but it should be using the warmest color at this time so I can fall asleep in an hour. Is my solar time working correctly? It seems like my solar time would want me to stay up later rather than fall asleep earlier (like the app used to do).

It seems like the solar time should really be 8:30 pm at least, since it's already dark outside. Do you think it's working correctly? Thanks for helping me!
