Is it possible to add a new weighting curve to the f.luxometer software?

  • I'd love to be able to measure items like Photosynthetic Photon Flux (PPF) with this sensor and software. It's a different weighting curve than the melanopic applications, but the concept is similar - if the photon is within the 400-700nm band, then it counts. And if it's out of that band, then it doesn't. Can users add new curves with config file updates? Thanks!

  • f.lux team

I do like the config file idea.

We have always shown the older DIN 5031 as an option online, but not all of these are in the client right now - e.g.,:

I think I heard about the PPF idea in a Bugbee talk?

  • Thanks! With the rapid growth of electrically-lit horticulture installations, this could significantly expand the tool's usage. And while the research is still underway on which wavelengths are meaningful in varying situations, I can imagine a PPF filter being an excellent place to start.

Bugbee's a great resource. Are you familiar with the GLASE research consortium (https://glase.org/research/)? They're also doing great work.
