    Can't I remove blue without bringing down the brightness so much?

      Currently I have to turn my monitor's brightness all the way up to still be too dim to avoid eye strain. Just did the color calibration in Windows 10.

        It sounds like you might want to try a less intense f.lux setting.

        Also, are you in a very bright room?

          Thanks, herf. Light meter app says about 160 lux at the moment, it's night time and I have a lamp, candle, and three screens. I've used the slider, but it always turns down the brightness along with the hue. I also just calibrated the monitor's brightness and contrast. Nothing I adjust seems to alter tone without also losing brightness. I have to bring the monitor's brightness all the way up once f.lux is started in order to see things well enough.

            Also, something about the slider doesn't seem to work properly - I just barely bring the slider down and there's a big decrease but when I bring it back up, the light doesn't return to the previous level.

              @Kevin-Brewton
              honestly to get any more brightness you would need to not use flux and use a 4400k - 3400k icc profile
              the transforms that f.lux use reduce brightness more then a optimized (for this purpose) icc for an certain white point (5 - 15%)

              also panels get dimmer the further away you move from native white
              my panel has a native white that is above 7200k (due to the very very cool led backlight)

              subjectively whites are significantly less bright at 2300k in f.lux (6500k icc profile + use display data for better accuracy) vs native panel white balance icc profile (70% less bright)

              subjectively whites are noticably less bright at 3400k in f.lux f.lux (6500k icc profile + use display data for better accuracy) vs native panel white balance icc profile (30% less bright)

                If it is dimming immediately on moving the slider, it is probably using the "emulated" GPU transform with an older driver.

                Do you use a USB-connected monitor? It may have this issue, and there is a fix:
