f.lux flashing on/off when running Steam

I've been having a problem with f.lux going absolutely bonkers and flashing rapidly whenever I open the Steam client, even when not running a game. With the game I usually don't have an issue until a certain point where f.lux simply shuts off, but that I can understand (if someone knows a solution to that, I'd appreciate it). Is there anything I can do? Now I just turn it off when using Steam of playing a game, but I tend to do that in the evening and I would appreciate a filter.
Has anyone experienced this? Thanks for any advice.
