You're welcome. Lorna and Michael (the wonderful people who are behind f.lux) have taught me during my time on this forum that the brightness level is almost as important as how much blue light is in the light source - at least as it pertains to how 'alerting' it is for the body. Of course, it's also easier on the eyes when you've been awake all day and are getting tired. We get very sensitive to light after being awake for ~14 hours.

You might also be able to reduce the amount of blue light your monitor emits by adjusting its colors using its built-in menu system.

Adding a feature for a custom overlay, or controlling dimming individually for each display?

@fetymann Huh, I tried disabling Flux for the individual programs/games but that setting doesn't actually affect the dimming (just the colour temp stuff) and as a result I never thought about trying the "For Fullscreen Apps" as I thought it wouldn't either. I can confirm setting "For Fullscreen Apps" will disable both colour temperature and dimming and works for my purpose.

Although that setting desperately needs a blacklist/whitelist as well, I don't want fullscreening a youtube video at night to blast it at full blue brightness at my face.

6500K is no reduction. 1900K is the maximum reduction using the default settings. You can go as warm as 1200K with the slider if you enable the setting to enable the wider slider ranges, and you can go as warm as 800K if you use the keyboard shortcut Shift+Alt+Page Down. The lower the Kelvin value (K), the less blue light there is. 800K is pretty much just red.

However, due to varying differences between the color accuracy of monitors, no two can be identical. So, 1900K on your monitor likely has a different appearance than it does on mine or anyone's monitor.

Just use a setting that enables you to relax and feel comfortable and sleepy at night during the last hour or two or three before bed at the end of your day. Combine a warm color temperature setting with a lower monitor brightness (you'll have to do it separately using the buttons on your monitor or laptop keyboard).

@FFThrowAway said in F.lux and Firefox/Chrome lag issue:

ne else had this problem? If it is not just my computer, I suspect a lot of people have had the same problem and don't realize it could be due to f.lux. Strangely enough it took me this long to notice.

i have the same issue. Uninstalled flux and now its ok :(
now using night lamp feature in Windows 10 but its less good. Hope it will be solved soon.

Hmm, well the first thing is, you need to install a "real" video driver - the Microsoft Basic Adapter is not so good.

But I don't think it should be doing that even so.

If you have f.lux set to disable when running a full-screen program, then it should. Otherwise, it won't by default, no.

Oh and to answer your other question, this happens as soon as the program is launched. I don't have to click anything inside the program, it just starts going from normal mouse icon to "working in background" mouse icon.

Again, I am unsure what causes this but it seems to be an issue with the program crashing and restarting but I am unsure if it is the entire program or not because the screen stays with the Flux settings still being used.
