F.lux suddenly says ”Auto-update not configured” - why?
-
Hello Forum!
F.lux suddenly says ”Auto-update not configured”. I keep it updated via Homebrew. What can I do in order not to receive this pop-up window? The link's information is far beyond my capabilities.
Best regards,

We don't test with homebrew. Here, it looks like f.lux has been modified in a way that breaks code signing, which is pretty bad.
Can you try a recursive diff ("diff -r") on the Applications/Flux.app vs. a new copy from our website? https://justgetflux.com/mac/Flux41.5.zip

Thank you, herf, for your answer.
The recursive diff I understand, but I cannot execute it, I lack the skill. Perhaps if I remove the app from Homebrew's Caskroom, uninstall f.lux with AppCleaner, and then reinstall f.lux from your website, and henceforth trust its auto-update?
Mind you, I get a weird answer from the built-in update function, please see attached screenshot. -
@LarsBerglund yes - the answer is "weird" because we designate optional updates this way. "You should be on 41.4 but 41.5 is better." It's a third-party updater so we didn't make it clear why we do this, but that's why.

Ok, thanks for the explanation!
