Poor Performance with Chrome on Windows 7
-
Please see this bug report:
https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=912430
When f.lux is activated on Windows 7, Chrome/Chromium drops a lot of frames when viewing video. As soon as f.lux is disabled (even if it is still running), performance is normal.
Thanks

I'm surprised no one else has had this problem on Windows 7...
I am using this with forced 800k, if that makes a difference.
Platform is Haswell HD 4600 I think (GPU).
CPU utilization skyrockets and videos drop frames like crazy.
-
f.lux is doing a more expensive transform below 1900K, to improve color quality.
We could add a switch to turn this off if it's causing problems with video playback - sounds like it is.
-
And actually this is fast on Windows 10, but the Windows 7 question explains it.
-
That explains why I have this problem:
As I said, anything warmer than 1900K gives me that problem. I hate it. So, I am still using 4.78 and I won't upgrade to the latest version until this problem is fixed.
-
@herf Yes please, I'd appreciate it.
-
@herf Thank you. The latest version fixes this problem when the GPU option is unchecked for very warm colors.

@nourimane I replied to the chromium bug - hopefully they will close it as it isn't their issue.
