f.lux icon removed from top of my menu bar

Hi. I've had f.lux installed on my computer for a few months now and I love it. I recently kept getting messages to update it that I kept postponing and today when I logged on I noticed it wasn't working. I checked the top of the bar (where it says file, edit, view etc. on the left and stuff like wifi, sound, language, date on the right) and it wasn't there. I went to open it through downloads and it says there can only be one copy of f.lux running at the same time. I downloaded it again and the new one still won't work. what should I do?
