Thanks for adding the adjustment for Hue lights' brightness when controlled by f.lux. I haven't seen this working yet, but hopefully it'll sort out the lights being unusuably dim at night.

I noticed in the options that selecting control of smart lights prevents your computer from sleeping. I suppose that makes sense if your computer is an always-on home media centre type of thing, but I use f.lux on my laptop so this is kind of annoying. Obviously I'll lose control of Hue with f.lux when my laptop goes to sleep, but this is better than draining my battery / wasting electricity because my laptop didn't go into standby.

Could you possibly add an option to overrule this, allowing us to control Hue with f.lux but not disable sleeping?

I think I am going to figure out how to make it do this only when the machine is plugged in (so it doesn't kill batteries), and then warn people that it will happen when they turn on the Hue feature.

Actually, what's holding up more customization is that the Options menu just has too much stuff in it, and I have to reorganize it into tabs so the Hue stuff can have more details. And I haven't spent the day or two required to do that yet. :)

Fair enough! Great work on f.lux in general by the way, it's literally a life-changing piece of software.

When you do implement the deeper options page, can I suggest you let people prevent all forms of standby-altering behaviour if they want, even if you turn it on by default? On Windows at least there's already extensive power options that let me customise how my laptop behaves with / without power plugged in, so if I need my laptop to be always-on I can easily congifure that in Windows' options.

Personally I just find it confusing that I set Windows to sleep after x minutes and then, when it doesn't, I have to look through all my running programs to figure out which one is blocking it.

@herf Hey! If you're considering doing it just for plugged in mode, PLEASE reconsider. This drove me bonkers for weeks and I went down a rabbithole of trying to figure out why my PC wouldn't sleep anymore until figuring this out. I really really love the Hue integration -- it actually made me go out and buy a bunch of bulbs -- but the way this works is just not really usable. I don't really understand the intentional decision to disable sleep; just don't control my bulbs if it sleeps, and make stay awake a checkbox? In my mind, the flux + Hue sync is great for an office space, and should respect sleep settings (as well as not wasting a bunch of electricity).

Hey, I ran into the same issue today and I would like to share this fix I found for anyone who follows.
To block f.lux from keeping the PC awake, but still allow it to control your Hue lights when the PC is on, open a command prompt window in administrator mode by opening the search bar (Windows 10), searching for "command" and right clicking the command prompt and selecting "Run as administrator". Next, in the command window, type these two commands (confirm each by pressing enter):
              powercfg /requestsoverride PROCESS flux.exe SYSTEM
              powercfg /requestsoverride PROCESS flux.exe AWAYMODE

After that, f.lux should no longer prevent your PC from entering sleep mode.

              Hope this helps!

The latest build of Flux resolves this by letting you choose whether it blocks sleep. Thanks a million, @herf.

You can decide to release the lights off or stay on at a nightlight. To initiate the Prepare me to rest Formula you press your picked button on your Tap switch or long press the picked button on your dimmer switch!
