f.lux hanging system temporarily when changing
-
I've been using f.lux successfully for awhile with no issues, but after upgrading to macOS Sierra, it seems to be triggering an issue where f.lux changes will hang the system for a few seconds after f.lux makes changes. Even the mouse pointer won't move at these times.
I downloaded an installed f.lux beta 39.7 but the issue is still happening.
Is there anything that I can do to help troubleshoot the issue?
Thanks,
John -
Try disabling the profile writer:
https://justgetflux.com/news/2014/10/28/profile.htmlSome apps do a ton of work when we install a system profile, but dual GPU macs still seem to need this to avoid flashing when switching between GPUs. (I am seeing less switching these days though.)

@herf I use a MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014) and it doesn't have this f.lux Profile present in Displays > Color. There are a bunch of others there, however, presumably installed by default by macOS.
Interestingly, when I change to any of the Color Profiles in that list, the system does hang for a few seconds, just like when f.lux changes the color temperature.
Since I don't have a f.lux Profile in there, however, should I still try any of the suggestions in that article that you linked to?
Thanks,
John
