missing night or dark mode from preferences > Color Effects menu

I updated my my MacBook to OS 10.12 beta Sierra and the dark or night menu effect stopped working. This is the one that made the menu bar change to a black background with white characters in it. I really liked it, but it didn't work after I installed the new OS. Tonight I saw that there is an update to f.luxometer. I hoped this would fix the problem but instead the dark/night mode option has just disappeared altogether. Is there any other way to do this?
