Howdy! I'd love to tell f.lux that I always want VLC or Borderlands 2 in movie mode. Please consider this feature request for an upcoming version.
EDIT: come to think of it with OS X you could probably tell it to set the movie mode just for the VLC window, and leave the rest of the screen in night time mode! That way I can stay up late on facebook and watch Star Trek on the same screen :{p
