Fullscreen youtube colour artefacting.

I'm having the same exact problem. It's only happening in Safari, but it's during all videos. When I'm in full screen mode in Netflix and Youtube, those bright spots appear. But I disabled flux and those bright spots were gone. Please let me know if you can fix this! Thank you.

Thanks @rachelyoung38 can you tell me your OS version and hardware information?
-
I'm having the same exact problem, too. Every Video in Safari.

Same issue here (even with the newest update to Flux), registered to post this. Youtube fullscreen will start artifacting, only on Safari.
MBPro Retina 13'' Late 2013
OSX 10.10.5
Intel IrisBeen using Flux for years but this is really annoying. And Chrome is completely crap on OSX.

Having the same problem with YouTube and Netflix only when the video is by itself. Can confirm this still happens w/ f.lux v36.
MBPro Retina 15" Mid 2015
OSX 10.10.5
Intel Iris Pro + AMD Radeon R9 M370X -
Thanks everyone for the info - I have it repeating in-house. It definitely looks like a GPU problem, but we have a few ideas that might help. We'll let you know when there's a fix to try.

i have this problem as well. only happens when full screened.
temporary solution that works for me - changing dispaly settings to 1680 x 1050.
macbook pro retina 13" late 2013

f.lux 34.3 -
Thanks for the response!

exact same issue here. so up vote for you.
took me an hour to look around the internet to find this thread, so I immediately disabled f.lux and voila! no more blocks when video's showing white. -
Hey, @fluxxer, Clever temporary solution! I've been bothered by this issue for a year now and I never thought to try something like that. +1 dude!

Same problem on MBA 2014 ;/ 10.10.5 / Youtube full screen only
Intel HD Graphics 5000 1536 MB
flux 34.3
safari 8.0.8

sorry but f.lux 36.1 makes it even worse :(
Netflix/Youtube Fullscreen Safari
MacBookAir 13", Mid 2012
OS X 10.11.4 Beta
Intel HD 4000 -
@yadrummer It's happening to me as well but I have a macbook pro mid 2012. Intel HD 4000
-
36.1 doesn't change any of the code - so it is exactly the same. :( We are hopeful to find a good fix or workaround in the future, I know it's annoying.
Here is a question, can anyone get this to happen on videos that are not HD 1020p?
-
@lorna It still happens for me on videos that aren't HD.
-
OK thanks everyone, we've been researching this week and the word is that it's almost certainly a problem with the Intel video drivers. We'll file a bug report with the usual suspects. I wish I had better news to report but thank you for all your help with tracking it down.
-
btw it doesn't occur in google chrome fullscreen videos.
Thank you guys for your great software i use every night.. -
@yadrummer that's good to know, thank you very much for the info.

Same problem here:
Artefacts in bright places and around the mouse curser when viewing YouTube videos in fullscreen.
(for the mouse curser problem refer here)MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012): Intel HD Graphics 4000 1024 MB
OS X Yosemite 10.10.5
Safari 8.0.8
f.lux 36.3 -
MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013) 10.10.5 Flux 36.3
Same issue... Just wanted to point out something I found interesting:
During fullscreen video play, at least on Youtube, If I move the cursor to bring up the interface/HUD (the progress bar, the play/pause button, the title of the video, etc.) the color issues disappear until the HUD goes away, even though I'm still in fullscreen video mode.
Also, changing the resolution to 1680x1050 as fluxxor suggested seems to work. Thanks!
