jittering menu bar icons on 10.10.5, flux 36.5

I have an issue were the menu bar icon to the left of f.lux jitters back and forth (left and right) when f.lux is running. It's definitely f.lux as when I quit it the problem stops.. Previous versions did not exhibit this behavior. Any advice would be appreciated.
FWIW I believe all menu bar icons should be optional an replicate functionality in the main app. If this was the case there could be an option to turn off the menu bar icon.
