Set Constant Temperature?
-
Hi There,
I spend a lot of time on the computer. To minimize eye strain - I would love to set the temperature to around 1400K and keep it there. Is there a way to disable automation?

What makes you think setting your monitor to 1400K would minimize eye strain?
There are many factors that contribute to eye strain, and lots of guides on the net for minimizing it. Choosing a slightly warmer colour temperature is one thing that might help, and you can do that in your monitor settings or Displays control panel. But 1400K is an extreme setting, and I don't think anyone would recommend that.
F.lux isn't designed to reduce eye strain, it's for helping you go to sleep at night. Having said that, if you check "Expanded daytime settings" in the menu, you can set as low as 1900K for your Daytime, Sunset, and Bedtime colours. I'd suggest not doing that.

That was a long winded way of saying "no" to my question.
Thanks

Actually I said "yes"! You can just set your daytime, sunset, and bedtime colours all the same - but only as low as 1900K, not 1400K. It doesn't seem like a good idea, but that's just my opinion. Most of what I've read says that too low of a contrast between background and text can make eye strain worse.
You could also try Redscreen, which can make your screen completely unreadable if that's what you want :-)

@matthewalexander we don't have an option to go that red all the time. You could try darkroom but it inverts colors so it can make your pictures look very strange.
