I don't think I'm getting the restorative sleep I would like. With ADHD the NY times article said that there's a high chance that people with it may be getting less delta sleep.

I'm starting to understand and realize what that feels like, and it's not something everyone experiences. When I wake up now, I always feel like I could sleep a bit more, so my head stays on the pillow. I've come to the realization that this doesn't do much for me. I guess I thought it was just normal for me to feel a bit tired after I wake up but this is now everyday, now I know it's a real thing.

If I were to go to a study and the give me all the info, is there anything I could possibly do to get more restorative sleep or is it just going to be this way forever?

I can still function but now it's starting to really catch up with me and it would be nice if I could lessen the effects of all this.

I posted several things that I'd like you to try. Did you see it in the other thread? Instead of going to this extreme, try more natural things first. I think what you are experiencing is what MOST people experience, and it's because they need to make changes to their life kind of like I described.

I am a huge fan of people getting sleep studies. If you've got health insurance, you might call and ask them what's covered under your plan, and if you have a primary care physician you can ask him or her for a referral.

@lorna That was easy, I've got one very close by, I may look into if other things don't seem to work.

@lorna I gotta ask, haha, how many bookmarks do you have? I mean seriously, you just have so much information you are able to link to, do you have separate folders for sleep, ADHD, lights, vision etc?

@Tungsten_smooth yeah it's probably a little out of control... fortunately I am fascinated by all those topics so it's fun to (try to) keep up to date on them all.

@Tungsten_smooth Google "behavioral insomnia" and see if it seems familiar or if you find some useful information. I agree with @TwoCables that many cases of insomnia can be helped by better sleep practices... (google "sleep hygiene" for more on that).

And better habits throughout the day, lifestyle changes, better diet, etc. etc. etc.
