F.lux and DisplayLink: Any way to get it to work?

I got a DisplayLink USB3 to HDMI adapter so that I could use dual monitors again with my MacBook Pro A1.

However, it looks like F.lux doesn't work with DisplayLink. Actually Apple's night shift doesn't either.

Any ideas on how to make this work on the displaylink monitor

We don't have any support for this in macOS right now.

The suggestion is 5 (!) years old. Hope we'll see some progress on this soon!
