after Win10 April Update - flux sometimes swich on/off for seconds
-
Just after Windows 10 April Update I noticed f.lux switch on/off itself for no reason. No pattern. Screen blink between standard and night mode.
Hardware: Surface 4 Pro with all latest updates and flux 4.66. WIndows' own 'night mode' is turned off.
Any help? :)

5/8/18: Note from Michael Herf: Windows 1803 appears to have a new bug that resets color settings every time a device is added to the system, including bluetooth and USB. We are figuring out what to do to fix this.
Also, we have posted a beta that reduces the impact by verifying the color change once per second: https://justgetflux.com/flux-setup4.exe

I'm having the same problem too. Is anyone also having the same problem as well? Perhaps this is due to the newly implemented "Smart Scaling" option? I have disabled it, but sometimes Flux stills turns off.
Hardware: Thinkpad T470 with Flux 4.66. Windows night mode turned off.
-
Seems like I solved my problem by uninstalling the app and then re-installing from the windows store.
Hope it helps

(no too much pun intended)yes confirm the erratic in off behaviour after April insiders update

I updated my Surface Book and got a couple flashes with f.lux, but without a predictable pattern. They did go away after the first few minutes.
However this update managed to disable my keyboard every few hours, and also seems to fail to come back from standby, so I've downgraded for now!
-
Ok, and on my Thinkpad (which is a little older) there is no problem. Can anyone with a problem please post driver info (f.lux options, button at the bottom?)
-
I'm having the same problem on my Yoga 720. Any suggestions much appreciated!
-
Can any of you post driver info? Specifically I'm wondering if anyone is having trouble without an NVIDIA + Intel combination (they used to call this "optimus" but maybe there is a new word for it).
So far, it is likely: Yoga 720 has NVIDIA, my Surface Book 2 has NVIDIA, some T470 have NVIDIA.
My Thinkpad (without the issue) is Intel-only.

My Yoga 720 driver info - no NVIDIA card, Intel-only

good to know - so all Intel 620?
-
@herf Yessir. Also I will note that this windows update has been giving me other problems that I don't think is related to f.lux but could be - every so often my screen freezes and forces me to close/open my laptop. Haven't tried disabling f.lux to see if that's the issue yet, but may try it sometime.

I have heard they are fixing the "Chrome" lockup next Tuesday? This is why I downgraded for the moment: https://www.theverge.com/2018/5/3/17315180/microsoft-windows-10-april-2018-update-chrome-crash-freezing-problems
-
@herf Oh wow thanks for sharing. Didn't hear about this.
-
I'm getting this issue whenever I switch on/off my bluetooth speakers (oddly enough). It's an old laptop, info below -
Intel i5 - 2410M
Intel(R) HD Graphics 3000 - driver version 9.17.10.4459
NVIDIA GeForce GT 525M - driver version 22.21.13.8476 -
@DaveJ Huh, that could be it for me; I use Bluetooth headphones all the time.

This post is deleted! -
Anyone else think it's related to Bluetooth? If you can switch off Bluetooth entirely, does the flashing stop?
-
@herf I'm not seeing "flashing", flux basically pauses for a couple of seconds each time something connected via Bluetooth is turned on/off. Also happens when connecting/disconnecting a usb stick.
-
Got it... so I'm thinking any time a device is added (and maybe removed) from the system?
-
@herf Yeah seems to be. Just tried and it also happens with a USB mouse and keyboard.
Not sure if it's relevant but I'm using multiple monitors. Also, clicking anywhere on the screen immediately brings flux back (it comes back by itself after a few seconds).
