after Win10 April Update - flux sometimes swich on/off for seconds
-
@herf Yessir. Also I will note that this windows update has been giving me other problems that I don't think is related to f.lux but could be - every so often my screen freezes and forces me to close/open my laptop. Haven't tried disabling f.lux to see if that's the issue yet, but may try it sometime.

I have heard they are fixing the "Chrome" lockup next Tuesday? This is why I downgraded for the moment: https://www.theverge.com/2018/5/3/17315180/microsoft-windows-10-april-2018-update-chrome-crash-freezing-problems

@herf Oh wow thanks for sharing. Didn't hear about this.
-
I'm getting this issue whenever I switch on/off my bluetooth speakers (oddly enough). It's an old laptop, info below -
Intel i5 - 2410M
Intel(R) HD Graphics 3000 - driver version 9.17.10.4459
NVIDIA GeForce GT 525M - driver version 22.21.13.8476 -
@DaveJ Huh, that could be it for me; I use Bluetooth headphones all the time.

This post is deleted! -
Anyone else think it's related to Bluetooth? If you can switch off Bluetooth entirely, does the flashing stop?
-
@herf I'm not seeing "flashing", flux basically pauses for a couple of seconds each time something connected via Bluetooth is turned on/off. Also happens when connecting/disconnecting a usb stick.
-
Got it... so I'm thinking any time a device is added (and maybe removed) from the system?
-
@herf Yeah seems to be. Just tried and it also happens with a USB mouse and keyboard.
Not sure if it's relevant but I'm using multiple monitors. Also, clicking anywhere on the screen immediately brings flux back (it comes back by itself after a few seconds).
-
Okay thank you for this. Think this is the answer and I will see if I can get it fixed. :)

Hello,
After trying to remove the usb mouse it does indeed stop f.lux, until a few seconds or a click on the screen.
But I have small occasional freezes without removing anything, I was not able to replicate them but they seem to be more frequent when I navigate in the computer settings through notification panel on the dock (might be cyclic and because I go there much, could look like it's linked.)I always have the bluetooth on and a second monitor connected.
I'm using a surface book with intel processor and nvidia graphic card.
Hope it can help !
I'll update if I see anything else. -

I'll update if I see anything else. This is basically been my exact experience as well. I've noticed that the glitch tends to happen when I initiate a new computer process like opening the computer panel or switching between/opening new apps and less when I'm just staying in Word for extended periods of time. Though this is just a tendency and it sometimes happens regardless (I wonder if notifications or other background processes have to do with it?).

Seems working after uninstall/reboot/reinstall classic windows version.
-
Err nope, finally it disabling randomly during seconds...
-
@Lyon-St-Clair left notes at top - Windows seems to have a bug that resets color anytime a device is added
-
Any update to this? I'm really missing the reliability of flux!
-
I am hoping for a fix from Microsoft, but we could do a patch that adjusts the Windows color profile to avoid the problem, if that doesn't land very soon. This code is very well tested on the Mac, but Windows has a larger variety of color profiles (so this is why I am not rushing to do this).
How many times per hour are you having a problem? We could also temporarily turn back on a system that "fixes" adjusted profiles every second, like v3 did.
-
@herf For me it occurs every time another Bluetooth device connects or disconnect. It does with my Airpods, Surface Dial, Logitech MX Ergo etc.
-
Per hour? Hard to say, and it varies, but when its bad it can be as often as every 5 minutes. I would say the average is around 5 times an hour - regardless if I'm attempting to connect a device or not. Whenever it happens I just open and close the notifications panel and it fixes itself - its just annoying and seriously inconvenient lol.
