      I thought LIFX was 100% bluetooth? Does it operate on Wi-Fi locally as well, or does it reach out to a LIFX web server and then come back?

        Another vote in support of Lifx coordination. My family loves the app on our devices but we have to change Lifx lights with the app or via Google Home to match manually.

          @Tungsten_smooth It is purely WiFi. It has support for a same network wifi API and an remote REST API.

          I too would love Lifx support as well!

            @Modnar Wow, I may look into the lights then, I've read they have increased the color saturation capabilities--and Lifx STILL exhibits no flickering like Hue bulbs do--even noticeable by camera.

              @Tungsten_smooth I chose the LIFX over Hue based of the color reproduction and brightness.

              A couple colour bulbs are handy but the bulk of them for fitting out a home will likely be the white only ones.

              The API for them is relatively straightforward to me. As I've used them with an Amazon dash for make connected buttons.

                Yes, I am interested, and would prefer to support a LAN API with f.lux. However, there are two versions of it (my original LIFX bulb only supports the older version, so I need to sort out which is which) and it is quite complicated.

                We make changes enough times per day (hundreds) that I am not so happy about using the web API, but it would work more easily.

                  @herf having a look at https://github.com/LIFX/lifx-protocol-docs
                  It seems having a look at the commit log it hasn't changed a huge amount in two ish years? So V2 of the Lan UDP protocol has been around a while?

                      @Tungsten_smooth Yeah, Lifx Bulbs have proven to be much more colorful and bright compared to Philp Hue's. I personally have been looking into smart lighting recently, and have found after a lot of research that Lifx's App, Bulbs, Color, Brightness, and connection method are just better than Philp Hue's. This is funny for at least the brightness section because Philp Hue advertises a higher luminance than Lifx, but Lifx throws out a lot more light. I have held off on buying only it because it is not compatible with f.lux. So my plea is the same with these other people, give us Lifx support.
