Fullscreen youtube colour artefacting.
-
hi guys, found a lil workaround on this. Not ideal, but works.
Put captions on, make text and background black, and in settings put everything regarding the captions to the lowest opacity. That way it doesn't bother me that much and it fixes the problem until daylight rises at least.
I'm on chrome btw

I'm having issues with full screen Youtube in Chrome 57.0.2987.133, at least when videos are embedded on other sites. For example, this one. I use f.lux also for daytime settings, 5000. I'm running f.lux 39.95.
So, for the time being, I will try Night Shift, as I have 10.12.4. -
@AlixSPQR Which browser / app are you still having problems with? Can you post back with your OS version?
-
@lorna As I wrote, ”Chrome 57.0.2987.133” and ”10.12.4”, the latter obviously being macOS Sierra, and Night Shift is only available in this version.
-
@AlixSPQR Thanks. Is the problem you're encountering not happening on Chrome with Night Shift? Does it happen in Safari? (Sorry for redundant question, that's what I get for trying to write on my phone....)
-
@lorna No issues with Night Shift/Chrome/Safari with the same embedded video.
-
@AlixSPQR got it - thanks.
-
@lorna Your'e welcome. BTW: This is on a Mac mini Late 2012 (Macmini6,2), with Intel HD 4000 graphics.

I'm having the exact same problem, and I've had it many months.
OS X El Capitan
Version 10.11.6MacBook Pro (Retina, 13 inches, mid 2014)
Processor 2,8 GHz Intel Core i5
Memory 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics Intel Iris 1536 MBYouTube fullscreen in Chrome 57.0.2987.133 (64-bit) is when it occurs.
Hope this can be fixed! Looks like it's been an issue for ~2 years..

Has anyone work it out and please share your methods. Thx -
I'm also having the same problem. This happens with youtube, hulu, netflix, etc. Basically anything that can plays a video has this problem.
this is my macbook stats - MacBook Air (13-inch, Early 2014) 1.7 GHz Intel Core i7 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 Macintosh HD Intel HD Graphics 5000 1536 MB

well, I found another similar problem: happens on Youtube and Netflix both (maybe more, haven't tested). Happens only fullscreen once my mouse fades away, and once I jiggle the mouse the blown out artifacts disappear... until my mouse fades out again. No issue with Chrome, just Safari. you can check at https://forum.justgetflux.com/topic/58/strange-colors-blue-fringed-mouse-pointer-on-full-screen-youtube-when-f-lux-is-active/3

I've been having the same problem for awhile!! I assumed it was a graphics card issue actually until I googled and found users using f.lux having the same issue.
I'm using:
MacBook Pro, OS X El Capitan, Version 10.11.6 with Chrome Version 61.0.3163.100 (Official Build) (64-bit)and experience it when I fullscreen any video on any website! :o
Hoping it gets resolved somehow! :)

I have the same problem with chrome on windows 10

Hi there!
It's happening to me as well but I have a macbook pro mid 2012. Intel HD 4000
I do not understand what the problem is, even on the FixThePhoto site, where professional retouchers process your photo, the image is not complete -
Hey everyone. So I have exact same problem like everybody else here, except I NEVER USED f.lux and I don't have it installed on my macbook and never had. However I have adjusted my color temperature to 8000K, I believe the default color scheme (Color LCD) uses 6500K colour temperature. I'm pretty sure this problem is caused by Intel graphics driver, because if you go to the Chrome settings and disable "hardware acceleration" the issue is gone. Not sure if there is a way to disable hardware acceleration for safari...
Im on El Capitan 10.11.6. Firefox works fine with no problems. -
Hello everyone. I have exact same problem and just like the previous reply I also have NEVER USED f.lux, don't have it installed on my macbook and never had. Has anyone figured out a fix for this issue??
I'm running High Sierra 10.13.5, Safari 11.1.1, and Intel HD Graphics 4000, and I have had this problem since El Capitan.
Thank you all in advance, -

This GitHub safari extension helped me a lot and solved this problem
https://github.com/clundie/VideoFixer
Since Safari in macOS Mojave does not accept .safariextz file you will have to install in the manual way (the last part of this guide https://georgegarside.com/blog/macos/install-any-safari-extension-macos-mojave/) - use the folder .safariextension and install it. -
=====I have found a solution to the screen flickering=====
With chrome or opera, install the extension h264ify. This works for me to end the flickering. Not sure about Firefox. I had to register just for this post because it's so sad to see you guys flounder without a real solution.
Best,
