f.lux (and Windows night light) suddenly not working

Earlier this week a program I was using stalled so I restarted my computer. After singing back in to Windows both f.lux and Windows nightlight were non responsive. Adjusting the slider in f.lux did nothing. In the Windows settings I saw that the night light was turned on, but pressing the button to turn it on and off did nothing. I spent the entire day trying to resolve it with no results. I eventually got my IT department involved and they also could not resolve it. We tried every possible solution we could find online. We even edited the registry. Ultimately we had to completely reinstall Windows to get it working again.
Today, my fear came true. I locked my computer for a minute and when I unlocked it f.lux and Windows night light were both non responsive again. I use f.lux on all of my computers and the only computer having any trouble is this one. It is a Dell precision 3660.
Years ago I had a problem with f.lux and Windows nightlight not working on a different PC, but that time was different. The toggle for turning Windows night light on was grayed out. This time I can toggle it on and move the slider but it just doesn't do anything. I tried every solution I could find at the time and nothing worked. It didn't work for a month and then one day just did and I never had an issue with f.lux again until now,

@duke6258 Usually we ask you to post "f.lux options > driver info" so we can get a better sense of what's going on. Sometimes this is a driver issue, and sometimes it is the way that the monitors are connected.
