Reduce brightness even further
-
Hi there,
When using Alt+Pg Down, would it be possible in a later update to be able to reduce brightness even further? It goes down to 2% "Circadian Darkness" but the minimum is still too bright when I work at night. Maybe pushing it 2 levels further down, like 1% and 0.5% could do the trick? Currently I have to use Macular Pigment to try to lower the brightness further but it changes the screen color a lot.
I hope this would be an easy tweak rather than something considered as a new feature. Thanks to the team for the great work.

@mapsa thanks - there are a couple things here. Yes we could let the setting go lower, but due to dimming "in software" it tends to reduce contrast quite substantially, so on lower-quality screens there is a level where it's nearly unreadable. (I think to go lower we would adjust the backlight instead.)

Thanks for the quick reply. Ok so it seems there are options and it's a matter of choosing which one to apply? (Either doing something fully usable on quality screens only, or adjusting the backlight if I get it correctly). That makes me think about an additional piece of info that may be useful : I am in this situation because lowering the brightness without flux (meaning, using the PC settings) causes a flicker that tires my eyes quickly, so I rely solely on flux.

@herf (the simpler solution is probably indeed to allow the settings to go lower. People with a low-quality screen will see by themselves down to what level they can go for it to be contrasted enough)
