f.lux continues even after being disabled within the app or stopped using task manager

When I try to disable f.lux (either the hour long option or the indefinite option) it shows that it is disabled, but it still persists. Even after forcing the app to stop using task manager monitors continue to become or remain dimmed/tinted as they would be with f.lux turned on. I can reopen the f.lux app and change the lighting level, but I cannot disabled it to go above 5000K.
I have Windows 10 Home edition, EVGA GTX 1080 SC2 GPU, Amd Ryzen 1800x CPU, two monitors
