I hadn't gotten a chance to look into this issue much until just recently. I can confirm that I've allowed administrative privileges to f.lux and I've rebooted, yet the problem still occurs.
Version info:
f.lux version: 4.55

Since you've rebooted already, the other case that will do this is running a USB-connected monitor without the new DisplayLink driver.

I'm currently running DisplayLink version 8.3.2010.0. Do you know if this version contains that patch? Do I need to downgrade to that specific beta version?

I believe the newer version should be fine - in some versions of Windows you may have to follow the directions (from the linked webpage) to enable the feature though.
