Fully disable binding to wake up time?
-
It's good, that is the new version, but I still cannot understand how new logic work? In old v3 version it was just sun moving around horizon and f.lux just follow that line. In new version is always "wake up time" that move that.. curve, don't know how call it right.
I want that warmer screen was only depend from the time of sunset, not from my "wake up time" because it's different in different days. But now I don't catch a logic how new version is working... -
Yes, please let us disable that. I want it to have a set of option for day and a set of options for night, not change all the time. I don't go to bed and wake up at the same time, so the feature is pointless for me, but I can't disable it.

Just set both Bedtime and Sunset to the same color temperature. This is exactly what the "Classic f.lux" preset does, but if you do it yourself then you can have any settings you want and it'll work exactly like f.lux v3 does.

How variable is your wake time? We are learning a lot about people's schedules.
Generally your body is still keeping to a pretty rigid schedule even if your sleep is not, so this is why we ask you to pick your "earliest" time.
If you're doing multiple days of the same schedule, it may even be worth it to try to shift your clock to match, but if it's one day and back again, it would be harder to do.

My bedtime varies depending on when I need to be awake, so usually between 10 PM and 12 AM. Wake time is at around 7-8 AM, however I don't turn my PC on immediately after I wake up, so the actual wake time as far as f.lux is concerned varies heavily depending on what I do in the morning.
And as I said previously, my main issue wasn't that it had the wrong time, it was that I prefer to set one color for daytime and one color for nightime, instead of having to constantly adjust to f.lux making colors warmer at night. As Classic f.lux preset apparently does it, I'm just going to use it.

@TwoCables, @herf yes I do that, it is not what bother me, it's cool thing. When I try to figure out what "earliest time" do to the "warm curve" it moves it all to, for example, daytime if I "prefer" wake up in the middle of the day, and it's not correlate to the position of the sun, just my wake time. It's very different in weekend, when I can sit way longer to the 3AM and wake up somwhere in 12AM or later, that I don't do in weekdays. For me it will be an exellent option where I can choose what f.lux will make the main priority - only sunset time or my wake time.

All you have to do is configure each mode the way you want each mode to be. Go to "Adjust all colors at once..." You can fake your location and your wake time in order to switch between the 3 modes so that you can configure all 3 modes within a matter of a minute or so.
The earliest wake time is only for bedtime mode, and you're really only going to see bedtime mode at night. F.lux will shift to the bedtime mode 9 hours prior to the wake time you set. So, it doesn't matter if you don't turn your computer on when you wake up. You could wake up and spend nearly the entire day without ever touching the computer, and it still wouldn't matter.
I would agree if you were to say that it would be much less confusing if we could just tell f.lux when to enable bedtime mode and when to quit bedtime mode. However, it seems to me it was set up this way so that the Backwards Alarm Clock would make sense.
So on that note, @herf , perhaps it would be better if instead of setting one's earliest wake time, we could just tell f.lux when to switch to bedtime mode - and also configure how long bedtime mode lasts. It would probably also be nice if bedtime mode could be optional (meaning, disabling it results in being much more like f.lux v3 - or perhaps identical to it).
