f.lux not controlling Hue lights properly
-
Hello,
For the past few weeks i have experienced f.lux not working properly with Hue Play bars. Sometimes the lights are randomly way too low, like at 5%.
Normally when i choose a preset on Hue Sync, it takes only a few seconds for f.lux to adjust the lights according to the selected mode. But when the app fails to work properly, it dims the lights way too much, almost turning them off. I'm writing this as it is happening...So i tried changing mode again 15mn later and it works again but it's annoying. It doesn't change anything to restart Hue Sync and/or f.lux and/or reboot when it happens.
Has anyone encountered this problem ?

@bakjoul sorry for this - we tried to make f.lux work better with external dimmers and controllers. It does a half-hour backoff and tries to learn what you are doing elsewhere.
For now, this can be disabled in the 4.125 build as described here:
https://forum.justgetflux.com/topic/8356/philips-hue-lights-set-to-minimum-brightness-at-f-lux-startup-v4-124/9?_=1692810273318If you can, please describe the steps you're taking just before you see this bug...

@herf I believe everytime it happens is when lights are already on before f.lux is started. A reboot or Hue Sync or f.lux restart won't do anything to solve the issue. It just starts working again after a while after i reopen f.lux. (I usually just close f.lux when it does this and open it later to check if it works.)

@herf Thank you. I've updated to 4.125 and disabled backoff.
Usually, it happens when f.lux starts while the lights are already on. Most of the time after a reboot or when i wake my pc up.

@bakjoul We released 4.126 to beta track today - it should be more careful to avoid reading old state immediately after startup. If you can flip the backoff preference back on we'd love to know how it works.
