Using the application from a remote computer
-
Hi all, I have a question. I want to connect to a computer remotely, just wondering if I can use the app from a remote computer? And I'm also choosing between citrix and remote desktop, can you advise which is better?

@Nikole We have a preference that can be adjusted via RegEdit.
First, explanation - by default, f.lux disables when using RDP because we assume that the client machine would be the better place for it, and we don't want it to get applied twice.
Still, if you want it to work over RDP, you should use a Win8 or later host (i.e. Citrix on win7 can be tricky) and then change this preference in the registry:
HKCU\Software\Michael Herf\Flux\Preferences\DisableRDP = DWORD(0)

Hello! I think you will have to install the application on the remote computer. And as for the difference between citrix and remote desktop, I can say that both allow you to manage applications on a remote computer. But there are some differences between them https://www.helpwire.app/blog/citrix-vs-remote-desktop/ here is a detailed overview of one and the other, and there is a comparison.

@herf Hi, I like this software. But I want to use it in an VDI environment with Windows 10 and our client is a zeroclient. So I cannot install it local.
With the entry in registry the message in the GUI changes to "Disabled" and still takes no effect.
With the old version 4-47 it works.
Are there any further preferences to set?
