I live in the northern Europe and I start my work day at 8am.
Problem is that I want my screen to be 5500K almost immediatly at 8am in the morning, but at that time flux is just starting to rise the colour temperature from its candle light night setting.

      Suggestions?

Use one of the 2 faster transition speed options.

You may also enter a different location that's a little further East.

Many people use blue "wake up lights" or "energy lights" in the mornings, so I don't get it why the color temperature rises so slowly by default

            I'll let @herf or @lorna explain it.

Can you try the "far from the equator" preset and see if it helps?

frosty1 wants to know why the default transition speed is set on "Slow: Natural Timing". I could try to explain it, but you always explain it far better.

Medium transition speed and entering a location further east (and little south) did indeed get me the result I wanted. So thank you! I'm still waiting to see whether it will affect negatively on the evenings, probably not.

Telling f.lux you are further East than you really are will give you an earlier sunset time as well. How much earlier depends on when the sunset is going to occur at the location you've selected.
