F.lux window opens and steals focus on Alt+Shift+Page Up/Down

Yes I could go either way on this one - is a click or alt-tab away a huge inconvenience?
Our notifiers were not as "good" at showing information when we did this, and we also hoped people would have the option to adjust wake time, brightness, and color all together. But certainly it is very heavy as it is.

It's just irritating. When I adjust f.lux's brightness, I don't want the f.lux window coming up and stealing focus. Why would anyone want that? I only want f.lux's brightness to change.

Well by now, you probably have a good mental model of the current "mode" you're in - but a lot of people do not know how they're affecting the overall schedule. And that's kind of important because it is persistent.
We could draw the graph in the notifier somehow, maybe.

So, you decided the best thing was to have the f.lux window come up and steal focus when simply adjusting its brightness? I hate it. When all I want to do is adjust the brightness, I don't have any desire to see the window. It's unexpected and it's interrupting. It doesn't matter that it's easy to press Alt+Tab or just click back to the window. The point is that it's clunky and annoying.
-
No, it's only when adjusting the persistent schedule, but I am considering other options.
Temporary changes do not bring it up.
-
I am talking about adjusting the brightness. I'm not sure what you're talking about.
Press Alt+Shift+Page Down. The window comes up and steals focus. It has never done that until now. I hate it. It's the first thing I have ever hated about f.lux, and I really really really hate it. Do you like that it does this?
-
Alt+Page Down will adjust the brightness without showing the window.
If you use Shift it will change the color temperature and the persistent schedule too.

I'm distracted. Yes, I meant that. Sorry. I sincerely apologize for that.
But yeah, that's annoying. I don't see any benefit to it. Up until now, I've been able to simply press Alt+Shift+Page Down and Up to adjust the color temperature without being interrupted. Now it steals focus and I have to return focus to the window I was working in. While that's not a difficult task, it's annoying that it has to be done.
All I need is the notifier. I don't need the window too.

I think the notifier would need to say "Bedtime color: 2400K" or something, with a click taking you to the UI.
As it is, you don't know it's permanent except for the UI showing up.

Hmm. I've never thought of it as being a temporary change. I always knew it was permanent, even from the first time I saw it. Perhaps it should say "new color setting" or something so that the window doesn't have to come up. Stealing focus for something like this seems wrong to me, but I can only speak for me. heh
It gets even worse when I adjust multiple times. Stealing focus every single time is very frustrating.

Yes, I mean you are person who has learned how the software works, so your mental model is really close to what's going on. But many people come into it without a lot of understanding about that, and so I also have to make it understandable for them too. Will look at it.

I think all you may need to do is make the notification tell the user what they just did. The window coming up and stealing focus is invasive. I used to like Alt+Shift+Page Up/Down. Now it's going to be that thing I hate about f.lux. I never thought I'd dislike anything with f.lux.
