      Hello!

Sorry about late replies I've been super busy recently.

I've tried the ccleaner but i's not helped.

I'm starting to think Vista is rubbish and out to ruin my life with little problems.

Let's not give up so easily. Maybe f.lux just needs to be reinstalled. I don't know. If Michael or Lorna ever replies, then maybe they will have an idea, but let's be positive about this. It's not like it's a major computer problem or something, right? I mean, it's not actually ruining your life or anything serious like that. It's just an icon in the Notification Area that you're having trouble hiding. In the big picture of your life, it's just 1 little pixel. It's not worth getting upset over or depressed or anything like that. Am I right?

We'll get this figured out. In the meantime, just remember that it's only a little icon in the Notification Area. It might not even be Vista's fault either; it could be some other program or something like that.

Hey it's Lorna- we've been doing some travel so haven't been on the forum as much recently. The UI is supposed to hide after setting the location, but we leave the icon there, and we don't really have anything to do with what's in the system tray after that. To confirm, you are trying to hide the icon in your system tray and it's reappearing and you want it to stay hidden, right?

Sorry not to really hijack this thread but Vista well, IS rubbish. I'd recommend get an install of Windows 7 and take the free upgrade to Windows 10 this next month (July 29th I think) and you'll have a much better computer.

Anyway, I guess in the meantime, let's get back to the issue. Also I appreciate you trying Ccleaner! That really does help to narrow down what's causing the issue.

Hello everyone, my this forum is full of nice people.

Lorna i'm in no rush at all you enjoy your travel and yes I'm trying to hide it and it's reappearing the cheeky thing.

Timpster I couldn't agree more however this is on my work computer and it isn't the fastest thing. Flux works perfectly on my PC at home but I use the work PC more and if I could convince work to get me a new one or at least upgrade it I would have done that ages ago.

The fact that this is on your work computer might explain it. Was this work computer set up by the IT department? Or, is this a personal computer that you are using as a work computer?

Can you find a taskbar properties menu? Since XP there has been a setting per app to choose which apps appear and which are hidden.

f.lux actually does set itself to appear at install time (we wanted "disable" and the preferences to be visible), but you should be able change it to hide with this control, and then it won't put itself back.

                    Two Cables:
It's a work computer but it's nothing more than any home pc would do. This is a small company and we have a total of 4 PC's and I am the IT department, which usually involves showing someone how to add attachments to an email.

                    Herf:

I think I have set it to hide in the taskbar notification area several times, my process is to right click on the taskbar, properties, notification area tab, customise, and set flux to hide.

Is there's another way of doing this that might have better results?

Click and drag the icon into the hidden icons area.

Clicking and dragging has the same effect as going into the taskbar properties. It still keeps coming back.

I have to admit that I'm at the point now where I'd like to just advise that you say "screw it" and just let it not be hidden. Besides, it's more convenient to have it NOT be hidden anyway.

So apart from telling me how to hide the icon which I already knew no one has any ideas?

Well, there are only 3 other people who have replied so far besides me. So, that means 4 people have said that they don't know how to fix this issue (that includes me).

Like I said, if I were at this point, then I'd just say "lol forget it. It's not worth it. It's only one little icon".

Hi, this issue is still present with the new beta (4.20) and I must say it's pretty annoying.

Personally I like to hide all icons of apps that do not require frequent reference and f.lux is totally one of those! It's been tested on Win10 both 32 and 64 bit, three machines, so it looks it's the app issue, not OS one.

@lorna App notification also has the same problem, can not be completely shut down, each time the computer restarts, f.lux run, the f.lux app notification will automatically open just like the icon in the notification bar.

I think I found the problem. F.lux is weirdly registering itself. you can see in the linked and attached image, there's a bunch of f.lux and only one instance is running on the computer. You set f.lux to be hidden, but then f.lux changes what it is and so returns to the taskbar.

I will second this, as I'm having this exact same problem. Each different Flux title creates a new entry in the icon hiding list, identically to how it's shown in the screenshot above. A new one appears on every computer startup.
